James H. Metzgar Elementary Recognized by
Pennsylvania Department of Education

Greensburg Salem School District is proud to announce that James H. Metzgar Elementary School has been recognized as a Title I Distinguished School for the 2016-2017 school year. Each year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania. Schools are recognized based on obtaining high achievement or progress in closing the achievement gap on the PSSA’s in Reading and Mathematics. The school is one of 168 schools in Pennsylvania to be selected for this award.

"It is such an honor to see that now all three of our elementary buildings have been honored as a Title I Distinguished School," Dr. Eileen Amato remarked. "We applaud our administration, teachers, and staff who are being honored for their efforts to use resources to increase student achievement for all of our district students."                                                                                                                 James H. Metzgar Elementary will be honored at the 2017 Title I Improving Schools Performance Conference Award Ceremony that will be held on January 30th in Pittsburgh.
